Legendary radio DJ Delilah has officially joined TikTok, and it’s safe to say that many adults who used to find comfort in her signature soothing voice are delighted to hear it—and see her lovely face—on their FYPs.

As she settles into her newfound social media fame, Delilah’s learning the TikTok ropes, and she took a minute to respond to one of several comments from users who have the fondest memories of hearing her voice on their radios growing up. “You raised so many of us and you don’t even know,” wrote one person. “You were our safe place when a lot of us didn’t live in a safe place. Your voice made us feel loved.” (It’s true, she whispers, holding up a hand in agreement.)

“What a beautiful compliment,” she began. “If you grew up in a home where there wasn’t healthy love, you weren’t nurtured, you weren’t made to feel valued or valuable, you had to earn somebody’s love or you didn’t feel like anyone cared, I am sorry. I am truly sorry. And if I helped to fill that void in a little way, I know that takes a lot of work to heal your heart.”

“My voice and my radio show can’t possibly fill the void in your heart if you didn’t have a mother’s love or a father’s love or a secure family or if you weren’t nurtured,” she continued.

If her listeners ever heard something she’d said and thought, “‘Delilah, how did you know I needed to hear that?’” she believes that it was the work of God or another higher power that knew her words were what you needed to hear at that moment, just “in a human voice.”

Delilah, now 64, is taking fans behind the scenes into her life on TikTok, from the adorable emus on her farm to the sweet moments with some of her 15 kids. Not only is she still on the radio (!), she has devoted her life to raising her kids both biological and adopted, joking that if you’ve listened to her at any point from the ‘80s to today, she’s been “raising kids” every single decade since.

“Tearing up listening to this,” one commenter wrote. “Car rides listening to Delilah- falling asleep as a child with your voice in the background—the sound of my childhood.”

Another commenter summed it all up perfectly, writing: “I’m so appreciative for you in the past and for this. You were and are so comforting. I really needed to hear this. Thank you so much.” And we couldn’t agree more with this sentiment.
