Leeds January signing urged to ditch club after just four months: ‘He has to think about his future’
Leeds United defender Max Wober has been urged to ‘consider his future’ at the club given their ongoing battle with relegation.
The Austria international only signed for the Whites in January, but it is believed that he is keen to avoid playing in the Championship next season.
Arguably, Wober has been one of the few positives for Leeds fans recently. So, they would no doubt be frustrated to see him leave.
On Wednesday, Sam Allardyce replaced Javi Gracia as Leeds manager. However, despite his experience in relegation battles, there is no guarantee he can get his team to safety.
As it stands, the Whites sit in 17th place in the Premier League table and are only outside the bottom three on goal difference.
While Southampton seem doomed, Everton, Leicester, Nottingham Forest and Leeds could all still feasibly survive the drop.
With that in mind, it seems likely the Whites’ fate will only be sealed on the final day of the season. If they are relegated, they could lose a big chunk of their squad – including Wober.

Wober told to consider Leeds exit
This is according to Austrian journalist Peter Linden, who says Wober should consider an early departure from Leeds if they do get relegated.
“Leeds legionnaire Max Wöber has to think about his future,” he said.
“On Tuesday he got his third coach in five months. In January it was Jesse Marsch, whom he already knew from Red Bull Salzburg.
“In February it was the Spaniard Javier Gracia, who had to leave four rounds before the end. It looks more like relegation than staying in the league.”
Since arriving at Elland Road, Wober has made 12 Premier League appearances. Despite missing a chunk of games due to a hamstring injury, the defender has quickly become a key player.
Now, given Allardyce’s tendency to employ a defensive shape, he could be set to play a crucial role in the relegation scrap.
However, of Wober’s 12 appearances – Leeds have won just two games. Clearly, this is something they need to improve on if they want to survive.
The Austrian is under contract until 2027, so ultimately, his departure would be the club’s decision, not his.
Nevertheless, Leeds could be forced to sell some of their prize assets if they do go down to fund a squad rebuild. In addition, if Wober was to submit a transfer request, their hand could be forced.
For now, Wober’s focus will be on Leeds’ four remaining matches against Manchester City, Newcastle, West Ham and Tottenham.
But, if they do go down, he could be one to watch in the summer transfer window.
