At least one drowned in northern Italy floods

STORY: Ansa news agency reported that a man aged around 80 drowned while he was out cycling, swept away by a flooded river in the town of Castel Bolognese.

Firefighters wrote on Twitter that a house collapsed in Fontanelice, a nearby village.

Rescuers are trying to establish whether a person was trapped inside.

Footage released by fire fighters showed floods hitting an area between Bologna, Emilia Romagna's capital, and the city of Ravenna. They said they evacuated dozens of people.

Rail operator Trenitalia said several services were suspended due to weather conditions and a number of streets were also closed.
