At least 430 migrants crossed the English Channel to the UK on Monday a new record for a single day according to the Home Office. Around 50 people including women and young children were seen landing on the beach at Dundgeness in Kent after crossing in one dinghy. It comes after 241 individuals on eight boats arrived in the UK on Sunday. More than 3,000 people have made the crossing so far this year. Ministers insist they are taking "substantial steps” to tackle the issue. MPs have also been critical over the asylum system and want to see change. Illegal migrants could face up to 4 years in prison under a new bill before Parliament.
