At least 27 feared dead in Japan fire

Dozens are feared dead in Japan after a blaze ripped through a psychiatry clinic on Friday (December 17).

Police in the city of Osaka are now investigating a suspected arson attack.

The fire broke out on the fourth floor of the office building, shortly after the clinic opened for business.

It was extinguished within about 30 minutes.

Police told media they are looking into reports it was started by an elderly man.

He was seen carrying a bag leaking a flammable liquid.

Japanese media report that he was a patient at the clinic.

The office building also housed a beauty salon, a clothing shop, and an English-language school.
