League of Legends' newest champion, K'Sante, is an exciting mashup of existing champs

League of Legends (LoL) developer Riot Games recently revealed the abilities of the game's latest champion: K’sante the Pride of Nazumah.

Confirmed to be the roster's first black LGBTQ champion, K’sante was revealed to be a tank in the top lane.

His kit features shields and utility usually available to tanks, as well as bruiser and skirmisher abilities, with a lot of mobility.

That being said, K’sante has a unique identity in that his abilities have both base and empowered forms. On top of that, many of his abilities seem to be a mashup of different champions like Renata, Vi, Mordekaiser, Irelia, Qiyana, and even Poppy.

Devs have confirmed that K’sante’s kit is one of the toughest in decision-making, with his weapons and his kit changing form once his ultimate is activated.

Here’s what his ability kit looks like and how it works:

All out (R - Ultimate)

K’Sante shatters his ntofos, dealing physical damage and Knocking Back an enemy champion. Enemies that hit a wall will take a greater amount of physical damage, are Knocked Back over the wall, and are briefly Stunned. K’Sante then dashes after the enemy and goes All Out for an extended duration.

All Out K’sante loses a percentage of max health, bonus armor, and bonus magic resistance. K’Sante gains attack damage, omnivamp, and transforms his abilities.

Unlike other ability rundowns, we're starting with K’sante’s ultimate ability. His ult allows him to change forms and affects all other abilities in his kit, including his passive.

His dual-wielding blunt weapons called Tonfas, T-shaped melee weapons from Okinawan martial arts, also turn into sharp dual blades after he kicks the enemy and follows them.

The wall also has no range, so it’s like Poppy ult’s with unlimited range, except that he follows the enemy he knocks back.

This ultimate also turns him into a skirmisher. His tank stats will transform into skirmisher stats, with his armour, magic resist, etc., becoming attack damage, attack speed, omnivamp, etc. This form roughly lasts 30 seconds, the average length of a teamfight.

This allows him to sometimes draw away an enemy bruiser from the team fight and potentially take down that targeted enemy champion one-versus-one.

Dauntless Instinct (Passive)

K’Sante’s damaging abilities mark enemies hit for a short duration. Attacking a marked enemy consumes the mark to deal damage plus max health physical damage.

All Out: Attacking a marked enemy instead deals physical damage and additional max health true damage.

K’sante’s passive sounds quite a lot like Renata’s passive, Leverage. It wasn’t confirmed if K’sante’s marks only boost his own damage or if it will also help his allies. In any case, this passive synergises well with the rest of his abilities.

Once his ultimate, All Out, is activated, it becomes even more painful to marked enemies since it deals with physical damage and additional max health true damage.

Ntofo Strikes (Q)

K’Sante slams his weapon, dealing physical damage in a small area around him and briefly Slowing targets hit.

If an enemy is hit, K’Sante gains a stack for a short duration. At 2 stacks, K’Sante instead fires a shockwave that Pulls enemies.

All Out: This ability’s cooldown is reduced and no longer slows targets hit.

The regular form of this ability is more for tank utility, with crowd-controlling effects like stuns and slows.

This low cooldown ability gains stacks and at two stacks, becomes a quick pull like Mordekaiser’s Death Grasp (E), and the shockwave, a bit similar to Qiyana’s Supreme Display of Talent (ultimate).

Path Maker (W)

Begin Charging: K’Sante raises his weapons defensively for a short duration, becoming Unstoppable and reducing incoming damage.

Release: K’Sante rams forward, dealing a percentage of max health physical damage, Knocking Back, and Stunning enemies he passes through for a short duration based on charge time.

All Out: This ability’s cooldown is refreshed, the damage reduction is increased, it deals an additional amount of physical damage based on charge time, and the charge and dash speed are doubled.

Begin Charging is a great way to front line for the team and protect the carries, while release acts like Sion or Vi’s ult that knocks up enemies.

This is a perfect way to set up a gank or an incoming high-damage ult from other teammates, which is important in team fights.

As for Path Maker's All Out version, it seems like Irelia’s W mixed with Sion’s ultimate, and is a great follow-up to his ult.

Footwork (E)

K’Sante dashes, gaining a shield for a short duration. If dashing to an ally, the distance is significantly increased and they are also Shielded. Other spells can be cast during this ability.

All Out: This ability’s dash speed is increased. Dashing to a targeted location has increased range and can go over walls.

Footwork is the ability that gives K’sante mobility as a tank. This allows him to dash in any direction and give shield an ally when he dashes into them.

The All Out version gives him more options for escape, especially since his skirmisher version is squishier than his regular form.

What do you think of this new champion’s kit? Are you excited to try him out?

K’sante will be out for testing on the Public Beta Environment (PBE) and will be released to servers in Patch 12.21 in November.
