LoL Arcane: Easter Eggs you may have missed in Act 2

The second act of Arcane, the League of Legends (LoL) Netflix animated series, was released last Saturday (13 November).

There’s a lot to unpack from episodes 4 to 6, so let's take a look into all the Easter eggs, references, and other details in the show's second act and how all these potentially relate to LoL lore.

Spoiler Warning: This article contains spoilers from Episodes 4-6 of Arcane. Proceed with caution.

What's happening in Arcane Act 2?

Act 2 took place years after the incident at Silco's base. The Piltover Hexgates already exist, enabling quick travel throughout Runeterra. While the city prospered, corruption and greed have also run rampant. Moreover, we now Jinx years later after she joined Silco.

Meanwhile, Caitlyn, already a Piltover enforcer, digs further into Zaun. Finally, after freeing Vi, they set out to locate Vi's sister, and after a brief reunion, Jinx and Vi were separated again.

Episode 4 started with Heimerdinger and Jayce admiring Stanwick Pididly's statue. Originally, he was a Zaunite professor who took credit for Viktor's LoL champion "Blitzcrank". Pididly also resurrected the LoL champion “Urgot”.

Since Stanwick was already gone by the time Arcane happened, we may notice some alterations in Blitzcrank and Urgot's lore in Arcane.

The Leader of the Firelights — Ekko?

Following that scene, we saw Silco's thugs load a ship with barrels of Shimmer, the purple substance from Act 1. Another Easter egg appears here for a short moment: the LoL champion Gragas, drawn onto the barrels.

Once the goods were loaded, the Firelights raided the ship. Most fans initially thought their leader might be a new champion, but now we believe he’s an existing one: Ekko.

Both characters have red scarves around their necks. Also, the leader’s mask is similar to the symbol on Ekko’s shin in the original design.

The most revealing clue is a unique watch — a gadget that will eventually allow him to reverse time.

The Atlas Gauntlet and Hexclaw

Progress Day in Piltover is a day to honor the city's anniversary and innovations. A picture of a diver with tentacles behind him appears at the exhibit, a homage to Nautilus, another LoL Champion.

Then Viktor and Jayce present Professor Heimerdinger with two new creations.

The first is the Atlas Gauntlet. In the original lore, Jayce didn't build the Atlas Gauntlet; he just refined and stabilized it using the Hex Crystal. Vi will utilize this gauntlet in Act 3.

Hexclaw, on the other hand, is a hint to Viktor's destiny as the Machine Herald. Precisely like the Machine Herald, the claw unintentionally shoots near the Poro as they present to Heimerdinger.

Viktor and the Hexcore

Speaking of Viktor, Act 2 revealed his physique withering, with his cane becoming a crutch. Viktor worked hours in the lab improving Hextech while Jayce was seduced (literally) by power and corruption.

Exhausted, Viktor coughed up blood and fell. The Hex Crystal absorbed the blood and turned purple, becoming the Hexcore: An adaptive rune matrix, or as Viktor puts it, "hextech that develops".

Hexcore interacts with biology; however, the mutations were unsustainable and collapsed in Act 2. LoL fans know that the Hex Core is linked to Viktor's equipment and that Viktor is the only person to have touched it in Arcane.

The New Zaun

With Vander gone and Silco running the show, Zaun transformed, with more goons around, the city overflowing with Shimmer, and inequality within Zaun itself, with other chem barons within the undercity.

In Zaun, there are plenty of Easter eggs. Beside a Chem Baron inhaling “Cherry Blossom Pure Air”, the poster on the right says “Herald Palace,” with the head of the Rift Herald above it.

We also see a brief scene where a tattoo artist is inking someone with a huge logo of the virtual heavy metal band, Pentakill.

The coolest find is perhaps the appearance of Imagine Dragons in Zaun. As the band plays “Enemy”, Vi casually passes in front of them, deep in thought.

Jinx’s Trauma

Jinx’s post-traumatic stress disorder is apparent throughout Act 2. When we see her tinker with the Hex crystals in a cave, her song “Get Jinxed” plays in the background.

Among her toys is a huge stuffed doll of Mylo. Claggor’s goggles is also on one of the toys hanging above “Mylo”.

When the crystal explodes, she relives the trauma from the explosion in Act 1.

She also has hallucinations of Mylo and Claggor, hearing them and talking to them in her head. This is why when Silco offered to drown her to rid her of pain, she accepted—and we imagine that she does this again in Act 3, where she transforms and leaves her old self.

Other LoL Champions

There were a few more LoL champs in Act 3 worth mentioning. First, we see a couple wearing a Wolf and Sheep mask in the brothel at Zaun, a nod to Kindred.

Then behind the Yordle is a mask of Blood Moon Twisted Fate.

Finally, in a separate scene where Marcus enters his daughter’s room, one of Silco’s goons reads a book about Teemo (or one of Teemo's kind).

What can we expect in Act 3?

With Act 3 just on the corner, we can't wait to witness how the characters grow and change.

Viktor is desperate for a cure, and we know that he’s approached Singed in Episode 6. We’re wondering if we’ll see him finally transform into the Machine Herald.

We also know that Vi joins Jayce and takes the Atlas Gauntlet to fight Silco’s gang, and we’re curious to see how this will play out.

Moreover, we think that something will happen to Jinx after her second separation from Vi. As mentioned in the Act 3 trailer, Silco “freed her”. Thus, we may finally see her true and current form in the final Act.

Last but not least, we want to know what happened to Vander. In the first episode, there were many references to Vander being Warwick.

One of them was found in Act 1, where Vander also used to fight with punching Gauntlets. Vi has taken after him and is also skilled with her fists. What’s a bit chilling, though? In the game, one of Warwick’s taunts against Vi is: “Who taught you how to punch?”

Since Silco said that Vander “went on a journey far away”, we’re wondering if this involves Singed’s experiment of turning him into Warwick. It would probably be such heartbreak for Vi if ever she faces him in Act 3.

The third and final act of Arcane will be released on Netflix on November 20.
