This will mark Giddish’s third appearance since she left the show as a series regular in December 2022. When she first returned for SVU‘s Season 24 finale, as part of a season-ending crossover between SVU and Organized Crime, Rollins was pregnant with her third child — her first with her new husband, Assistant District Attorney Dominick “Sonny” Carisi. During the episode, we learned that Rollins was teaching criminal behavior at Fordham University… and that she was very bored since leaving the squad.

“I love the students, but I do miss the feeling of solving a good mystery,” she told Stabler, who asked her to consult on a case.

Eight months later, SVU‘s Season 25 premiere opened with the christening of Rollins and Carisi’s infant son, Nicky. Benson was on hand as the baby’s godmother.

The procedural is currently midway through its strikes-shortened Season 25. New episodes air Thursdays at 9/8c on NBC.

Our sister site Deadline was the first to report the news of Giddish’s next encore. Will you be tuning in for her return?
