It's time to mark your calendars, Law and Order: SVU fans! We just got a big update about when new episodes will air, and you'll want to pay attention to this news.
Just a few months after it was revealed in March that the NBC drama got renewed for an incredible season 26, the network announced when viewers can see Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and her team back on their screens.
In a post uploaded on Instagram on July 9, folks learned that new episodes will air starting Thursday, October 3, 2024. What's more, Deadline revealed the show will be on during the 9 p.m. ET slot, following the season 24 premiere of its predecessor, Law and Order.
"Alert your squad and mark your calendars," read the official caption. "NEW seasons of #LawAndOrder & #SVU return Thursday, October 3rd to @NBC."
Shortly after the news dropped about Law and Order: SVU's season 26 premiere, folks rushed to social media to voice their excitement about new episodes dropping.
"The best birthday present is the season premiere!!" one person exclaimed in the comments. "Can’t wait! 🔥🔥🔥," another wrote. "I’m seated. My family told me to get off the couch because it’s not 10/3 yet but I’m too seated," a different follower hilariously remarked.
Although the reveal about new episodes of Law and Order: SVU is exciting, folks may be curious to know about the status of another show in the franchise — Law and Order: Organized Crime.
Despite NBC renewing the series starring Christopher Meloni for a fifth season, in a turn of events, the show will air on Peacock during the 2024-2025 TV season instead of on primetime television. What's more, the show isn't currently on NBC's fall 2024 schedule, meaning viewers will have to wait even longer to learn when a new installment will premiere.
