Larsa Pippen's made her own destiny and she's tired of the jabs that claim she's gained fame by riding on the backs of others.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, The Real Housewives of Miami star admits the constant Kardashian digs from women on the Bravo show haven't bothered her. In fact, the television personality, 49, says she lets the insults roll off her back because she knows how far she's come without the help of her former famous friends.

"If you know me, you know that for the last 10 years, I’ve been working on my brand and my superstar kids," she explains. "That’s really where I’ve been. I haven’t been anywhere else, or sucking up to anyone else. I’ve always lived in different states. Always had famous friends and always been working to grow and evolve."

In December 2023, Bravo released a mid-season trailer for season 6 of RHOM, where fans saw a heated exchange between Larsa and her costars Lisa Hochstein and Adriana De Moura. The mom of three demanded the ladies apologize for being an "asshole" last season when Adriana took things a step further and threw her association with the Kardashians in her face.

"And you weren't there, darling. You were in L.A. for 10 years, kissing the Kardashians' ass. So, shut up!" Adriana hollered to which Larsa fired back, "You better sit the f--- down."

Larsa tells PEOPLE that she believes "Adriana is literally the same person she was 13 years ago," and claims she understands why she speaks ill about her history with the famous family.

"She says that because she hasn’t evolved," she explains. "I feel like for me, I’ve evolved and come so far from where I was 13 years ago. So I don’t really pay her or anyone who says that any attention because I feel like I’m really focused on the things that matter, the things that make a difference for me and the people around me."

Standing strong on the fact that "I don't hide in anyone's shadow," Larsa says that she doesn't "tie myself to anyone" and has always "stood on my own two feet."

"I’m my own person. I feel like I’m good being alone," she continues. "I’m good."

Larsa's longstanding friendship with the Kardashians fizzled out in 2020. In a February 2022 episode of RHOM, the reality star claimed she didn't "even know what happened," and she and Kim Kardashian fell out of friendship when she became the "person that was stuck in the middle" of her marital drama with Kim's then-husband Kanye West.

"I was best friends with Kim, and I love her and I love Kanye, and I just was the person that was stuck in the middle," she shared in the confessional. "I took a beating because I was the friend that was basically there and saw everything. And that basically was the demise of our relationship. I knew too much, I was a problem, and so, whatever. That's kind of what happened."
