KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 —Larkin assemblyman Mohd Hairi Mad Shah has won the Umno Youth vice-chief post by a three-vote majority, according to Umno election committee chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad.

During a press conference streamed live on Facebook, Shahri said that Hairi had gotten 87 votes, beating his closest contestant Ikmal Hazlan Ikmal Hisham who had 84 votes.

"Hairi’s win was determined at 12pm after we received the final votes,” said Shahrir.

Hairi is also the Johor state executive councillor for youth, sports, entrepreneur development, cooperatives and human resources.

This comes after Sharir announced last night that the outcome for the Umno Youth vice-chief post was the only one pending among posts for the Umno Youth, Women, and Puteri Wings in its latest internal election.

The Umno Youth chief position was taken up by Muhammad Akmal Salleh, who won comfortably with 119 votes, compared to the 50 votes won by his closest challenger, Mohd Shahar Abdullah.

At the Wanita level, Datuk Noraini Ahmad successfully defended her position as Wanita chief, while Norliza Abdul Rahim also defended her position as Wanita vice-chief.

Datuk Nurul Amal Mohd Fauzi won the position of Umno Puteri chief, while Siti Sokhleha Nordin became the wings vice-chief.
