Large Tree Felled During Severe Thunderstorm in Greeneville, Tennessee

A resident of Greeneville, Tennessee, captured the moment a severe storm brought down a large tree onto her home on May 6.

Jessica Cope told Storyful she heard a “noise like out of a movie” coming at her very fast as the storm closed in on her apartment. Cope recorded the moment the tree collapsed towards her, leaving her in shock.

“I could not believe what I just saw. My thought process was, did I really just see that? Did I really just record that? And the only thing I could get out was to scream,” Cope told Storyful.

Winds of up to 60 mph and possible quarter-sized hail were expected to hit parts of eastern Tennessee, including Greeneville, on Friday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. The weather bureau had issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the area at the time. Credit: Jessica Cope via Storyful
