A large dust devil spun in central Illinois on Thursday, May 4, amid arid weather conditions in the region, according to the National Weather Service.

This footage was captured and posted to Twitter by Joseph Lee Spencer, a staff member at the University of Illinois, who said he filmed it in Urbana on Thursday afternoon.

“It lasted for more than a minute and dissipated when it crossed from the field onto the paved road. The funnel twisted high above us! Awesome,” Spencer said in the post.
