LAPD Rescues Wheelchair User From Vehicle Moments Before It Bursts Into Flames

Los Angeles Police Department officers in Foothill pulled a wheelchair user from a burning car wreck on September 18, sharing body camera footage of the timely rescue.

Police said LAPD Foothill Community Police Station officers were on “another routine patrol shift” when they noticed a vehicle emitting smoke at an intersection. Officers were able to extract a “disabled” passenger from inside the smoky car moments before the vehicle burst into flames.

This footage shows officers with unit 16Z3 jumping into action to save the man, who is seen in the video wearing a Raiders cap. His wheelchair was destroyed in the fire, but it was quickly replaced thanks to an officer’s donation, police said. Credit: Los Angeles Police Department via Storyful
