Landslide Blocks Tunnel After Hurricane-Like Storm Hits Southern Italy

Crews were working to clear a landslide blocking a tunnel in southern Italy on October 26, after a hurricane-like storm battered parts of the Calabria region and Sicily.

Footage released by the fire service shows the impact of the landslide on European route E846 in the town of San Giovanni in Fiore.

The rare storm, known as a medicane, was described by local news as a Mediterranean cyclone with the power of a hurricane.

According to Italian news outlet Corriere della Sera, at least two people died due to flooding on Tuesday.
