Lava from the Cumbre Vieja volcano reached the sea off the Spanish island of La Palma’s west coast late on September 28, local officials reported.
The Canary Islands Volcanology Institute said the lava flow had reached the sea at Playa Nueva.
Video filmed the following morning by @efadi_LP shows lava spewing from a fissure vent on La Palma.
