A massive Los Angeles mansion that the late music icon Prince once painted purple is on the market for $29.995 million. Perched on a hill near the intersection of Beverly Hills and Sunset Strip, the 18,000-square-foot estate was designed for both for entertaining and withstanding nuclear bombs, The Los Angeles Times reports. In 1953, self-made millionaire Hal Braxton Hayes built the six-level "bachelor pad" during the Cold War. Hayes was known for throwing huge parties with 200 to 300 guests at the mansion, according to TIME magazine.

When NBA player Carlos Boozer bought the mansion in the early 2000s, he rented it out to Prince before flying to Utah to play for the Jazz. Boozer told The Undefeated that after a hamstring injury, he flew back to L.A. for physical therapy, and found Prince had made...quite a few changes to the mansion. The gold lions that adorned his gates were replaced by Prince's purple symbol and stairs leading to the home were draped with purple carpet. Inside, the floors were covered in black carpeting. His weight room was transformed into a dance floor, and a spare bedroom was now a hair salon.

According to records cited by People, Boozer sued Prince, alleging that he painted purple stripes and 3121, the title of his new album on the home's exterior. However, Boozer told The Undefeated that though his lawyers prepared the paperwork, he never went through with suing Prince. Prince assured him that when the lease was up, it would look like he'd never been there, and he wired Boozer $500,000. Since Prince kept his word, Boozer says he wired the money back to him.

Prince wasn't the only star to call the mansion home, either. According to the current listing, which is held by Jason Oppenheim of the Oppenheim Group, Elizabeth Taylor also lived there. Today, the mansion features 10 bedrooms; 13 bathrooms; a four-car garage; a wine room; an outdoor tennis court, and a pool with a water slide, swim-up bar and grotto. As these pictures from TopTenRealEstateDeals.com show, the mansion has spacious rooms and incredible views of Los Angeles.
