Kristen Stewart is about to bring some festive joy into our lives.

The actress stars in Happiest Season, a Christmas romantic comedy which focuses on a lesbian couple that returns home for the holidays. Stewart plays Abby, a woman who is set to propose to her girlfriend at Christmas. Meanwhile, Mackenzie Davis plays Stewart's girlfriend, Harper, a woman who has yet to come out to her conservative parents and family. Hijinks understandably ensue.

Stewart said of the film to People magazine, "I love when a holiday movie makes you long for an idea of home, but also examines how hilarious and hard reality at home can be sometimes."

Though it was originally slated to premiere in theaters, Happiest Season is now headed for streaming, adding some much-needed festive fare to our queues. Here's what to know.

Happiest Season is headed for Hulu.

The film premieres on November 25, 2020. Watch the first trailer above.

Like many other anticipated releases, Happiest Season will debut online rather than in theaters as some movie theaters across the country have closed due to the coronavirus pandemic and audience members have been reluctant to return to cinemas.

Clea DuVall directs a fun cast.

Directed by actress, director, and writer, Clea DuVall (But I'm a Cheerleader, Looking for Alaska), Happiest Season also stars Aubrey Plaza, Dan Levy, Burl Moseley, Mary Steenburgen, Victor Garber, Alison Brie, and co-writer Mary Holland.

"I think I've wished to see a gay Christmas rom com my whole life," Stewart told People. "I'm so happy and proud of Clea for bringing this into the world."

As for her experience helping to create the romantic movie, Stewart revealed, "We couldn’t have had a better more loving pack of weirdos supporting each other on this one. Had an absolute blast."

The film is based on DuVall's own experiences.

"I'm writing from my own place of truth and telling the story from my own perspective," she told Entertainment Weekly. She added, "I've spent Christmases with partners whose parents didn't know.… I've been 'the friend' at the family function."

DuVall also explained to People, "I’m a huge fan of Christmas movies, but I had never seen my story represented ... Happiest Season felt like a great opportunity to tell a universal story from a new perspective."
