Kristen Bell recalls sneaking into “SNL” after-party and pretending to know Will Ferrell: 'He's the nicest guy'
"He did not throw me under the bus and say, ‘I have no idea who you are, child!’ He just went with it."
Kristen Bell is forever grateful to Will Ferrell for not blowing her cover in front of her friends.
While visiting Late Night with Seth Meyers on Tuesday, the Frozen actress recalled meeting the Anchorman star for the first time after she and her friends had successfully snuck into a Saturday Night Live after-party.
“I met Will in 2001 as well, and I would like to tell you why he’s the nicest man on the planet, which I’m sure you already know,” Bell said. “He would never, ever remember this, but — so my best friend from college is your wife’s sister, are we following?”

Bell explained that her best friend had an internship at SNL at the time and, as a result, they would often sneak in to watch the shows every weekend. “I was, at that point, 18 looking like 12, wandering around the hallways,” she remembered. “People were like, ‘Who’s the child?’”
On one night, she even managed to sneak her best friend from home, Bob, into an SNL after-party, where the pair spotted Ferrell. “Bob goes, ‘God, I really wan to meet Will Ferrell,’” Bell said. “I didn’t know Will Ferrell, but I was like, ‘I’ll introduce you to Will Ferrell, no problem.’”
Playing it extra cool, Bell then introduced the two, telling Ferrell, “I was like, ‘Will, this is my best friend from high school, Bob.’”
Ferrell totally ran with it. “Will goes, ‘Bob! So nice to meet you!’ And this one…,” Bell said, imitating the Anchorman star by pointing towards host Seth Meyers and gleefully shaking his arm. “Oh, you!”

She continued, “He did not throw me under the bus and say, ‘I have no idea who you are, child!’ He just went with it. He was the most gracious — I remember it to this day. He’s the nicest guy. He’s a really special guy.”
