Krishnan Guru-Murthy amuses viewers after Channel 4 News guest says 'b*******'

Watch: Guest on C4 News says Rees-Mogg was talking 'b*******'

Channel 4 News viewers were amused when Krishnan Guru-Murthy apologised for the subtitles spelling the word "b*******" wrong.

The reporter had been chatting to journalist Gillian Tett and asked her about Jacob Rees-Mogg's recent comments on turbulence in the markets.

To viewers' shock, she replied: "To use a non-technical term, that is pretty much b*******."

"I think for the most part it really was the budget and the way it was delivered and the message inside it, which sparked the beginning of the crisis," she went on.

Guru-Murthy apologised for the slip, telling viewers: "I'm not sure if we are allowed to say that so I'm sorry if you were offended."

He later went on: "Before we go, I’ve had time to clarify whether that word Gillian Tett used to describe Jacob Rees-Mogg’s explanation was within the rules.

"On the Ofcom regulator website, it describes it as medium language, potentially unacceptable, less problematic when used to mean nonsense."

He then had people in stiches when he said the word had been spelt incorrectly in the subtitles.

"I should however apologise to people who are relying on subtitles for whom it was spelt “bullocks”,’ he said.
