S.Korean health workers cool off in 'recovery buses'

The so-called 'recovery buses' are packed with cold water, snacks and air con to provide welcome relief for healthcare workers during the summer heatwave.

Twenty-two recovery buses have been deployed by the country's Health Ministry to temporary testing centers around the country.

"It's so hot that it's even hard to breathe, but when I come here during the break time and rest in a much cooler and more pleasant environment like an igloo, I can recharge and work cheerfully in the afternoon," said medical worker Jung Tae-du as he took advantage of the bus' air conditioning.

South Korea has been battling its largest wave of COVID-19 infections so far - on Monday (August 2) 1,202 new cases were reported.
