S. Korean actor Yoo Ah-in posts apology on Instagram for alleged drug use
KUALA LUMPUR, March 29 - South Korean actor Yoo Ah-in posted a public apology on his Instagram yesterday after being questioned by police for alleged drug use.
"I've disappointed with my actions those who've cared for and loved me and I want to apologise once again. I'm sorry,” Yoo wrote.
"Moreover, to those of you who have worked on movies, plays, advertisements, and other valuable work because of me, I wanted to offer my apologies that I couldn't express yesterday.”
Yoo felt ‘greatly ashamed’ and ‘embarrassed’ for hurting the people who supported and encouraged him.
He added that he will fully comply with all future investigations and legal procedures.
The actor whose real name is Uhm Hong-sik entered the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency building in Seoul on Monday without responding to questions from reporters.
Yoo is under investigation since the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said that his purchases of propofol for non-medical uses from 2021 onwards were made too often.
Propofol is a powerful sleep-inducing anaesthetic drug also known as 'milk of amnesia' which causes users to experience euphoria.
The 37-year-old actor also tested positive for marijuana, cocaine and ketamine after sending hair and urine samples to the National Forensic Service for testing.
Yoo was a prominent actor and celebrity, starring in acclaimed films like Burning (2018) and Voice of Silence (2020)
He was also set to feature in several films and series this year including Netflix’s upcoming biopic film The Match.
