S. Korea begins probe into deadly Halloween crush

STORY: Opposition leader Lee Jae-myung was also seen visiting the rubbish-strewn alley in Seoul’s popular Itaewon district, as investigators photographed and used equipment to measure its width and incline.

Authorities said they were analyzing footage from more than 50 closed-circuit TV (CCTV) cameras as well as from social media to find out the exact cause of the accident and said they would continue questioning witnesses and shop employees near the site of the incident.

Witnesses said chaos erupted when people surged into one narrow, sloping alley that was packed with crowds, resulting in the crush that killed at least 154 killed and injured 149, with 33 people in serious condition.
