Koala Joey Emerges From Mom's Pouch at Sydney Zoo

Taronga Zoo Sydney in New South Wales introduced its first koala joey in over a year, Humphrey, in a video shared to Facebook on February 23.

Footage shows Humphrey out of his mother’s pouch, where he spent the past eight months.

The koala joey was born in May or June, according to a Taronga Zoo caretaker, who said most of a young marsupial’s development takes place in the pouch.
