Klopp told top two Liverpool targets will cost ‘minimum of £180m’ as oracle claims 184-game star ‘could leave’
Liverpool have been warned that potential deals to sign Jurgen Klopp’s top two targets to bolster his midfield will set the Reds back a “minimum of £180m”.
Klopp’s side are in need of a serious rebuild this summer after a season of real ups and downs. And no two results have better summed up their inconsistencies like the last week. That’s after a 7-0 hammering of arch rivals Manchester United was followed up with a dire 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth.
Indeed, that performance on the south coast was truly shambolic, with Steve McManaman going in hard on one star in particular.
And while it is tough to pin the blame on any one player, it is clear that some sort of worrying malaise has set in at Anfield.
As a result, Klopp is expected to undergo a severe rebuild of his squad.
To that end, several stars are expected to make way with Klopp looking to freshen up his side.
The main focus of his attention is likely to be in midfield too. With Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain departing as free agents, there also remains growing suggestions that Jamesd Milner may also soon depart.
That means Klopp will need at least two signings in the engine room this summer.
The man very much heading their wishlist is England midfielder Jude Bellingham. The Borussia Dortmund star, though, will come at a premium price.
Still only 19 years of age, BVB are likely to demand a fee certain to top the £105.6m Chelsea paid for Enzo Fernandez in January.

Liverpool warned over costs needed to sign Bellingham, Nunes
The Reds are also reportedly chasing Wolves star Matheus Nunes. And the Portugal international will also seemingly be targeted as part of a huge double transfer push.
Now trusted Liverpool FC oracle James Pearce claims the Reds can expect to pay premium fees for both players.
Suggesting they are indeed Liverpool’s two top targets, he delivered a warning to FSG if they are to pursue the pair.
“Even with the emergence of [Stefan] Bajcetic, LFC still need a minimum of two new faces in midfield. If that’s Bellingham and Nunes, you’re talking about £180m plus,” he told The Athletic.
The Spanish teenager has been a major plus for Liverpool this season, making 19 appearances in all competitions.
However, playing alongside Harvey Elliott and Fabinho, the three players struggled against Bournemouth on Saturday. Indeed, the teenagers were Liverpool’s two lowest-ranked players on the day, winning just one of 11 duels combined and losing possession a total of 19 times.
As a result, never has it been clearer that Liverpool badly need midfield reinforcements this summer.
Whether FSG are able to finance both signings, though, remains to be seen. And it might be a case of Klopp having to choose one or the other and opting instead to sign a free agent as a second new addition. For that reason, Liverpool have this week been linked with a soon-to-be free agent France midfielder once again.
Liverpool may sell defender to raise transfer funds
Of course, Liverpool could also take the route of generating additional transfer revenues by offloading a string of unwanted stars.
To that end, Danny Murphy has suggested six players may be shown the door at Anfield this summer. One of those, Joel Matip, has struggled for form and consistency this season.
And with just a year left on his deal, Pearce is also indicating that Liverpool will be willing to listen to offers for the 184-game centre-half.
Another man who has reportedly been put up for sale is forward Diogo Jota.
Pearce, though, is adamant that neither the Portuguese or Matip have officially been put up for sale.
However, he accepts there is a possibility that Matip could depart.
“Matip and Jota have not been put up for sale,” he stressed, before adding: “Matip is down to his final year this summer and if he wanted to leave and LFC got a suitable offer he could leave. But he’s certainly not being pushed towards the door.”
