Kuala Lumpur – Since its grand launch in June 2023, KL Wellness City (KLWC) has been making remarkable strides, reshaping the landscape of integrated healthcare and wellness. The visionary city with flagship KL International Hospital (KLIH) and The Nobel Healthcare Park will champion high speed broadband connectivity, supporting advance Internet of Things (IoT) technology in healthcare and wellness and meeting the need for connectivity for medical travellers.

Managing Director of KL Wellness City, Dato’ Dr Colin Lee, said “In achieving our vision of a modern healthcare and wellness hub in Southeast Asia and Malaysia’s position as top medical tourism destination in the world, we need to build a comprehensive ecosystem that is future-proof, and anchor our development with innovative and advance technology infrastructure. With KLWC being IoT-ready by design, our commitments to connectivity will facilitate patient-centric experience for both local and international healthcare tourists and this is also aligned with the Ministry of Health’s vision of a digitally transformed healthcare system.”

Malaysia’s Healthcare tourism revenue is expected to hit RM1.7 billion this year, and is expected to grow double-digit every year after to cap 5 billion ringgit by 2030. KLWC recognises this and aims to contribute to the growth of health and wellness tourism. Leveraging its state-of-the-art facilities, advanced technology infrastructure, and a patient-centric approach, KL Wellness City aspires to become a prominent player in the global health and wellness tourism landscape.

By embracing digital health principles, KLWC also aims to streamline healthcare workflows, eliminate delays, improve data availability and enhance quality of care and the overall patient experience. Additionally, the thirteen-storey KLIH is dedicated to creating a sustainable hospital environment, reinforcing KLWC’s role not only in spearheading technological advancements but also in environmental responsibility.

To date, both the KLIH and The Nobel Healthcare Park (Plot 1) have completed their earthwork, piling, and substructure works reaching 100% completion, with KLIH’s superstructure works scheduled to commence by Q2 2024.

At the celebration event today, KL Wellness City kick-starts the new year with these notable milestones and its grand month-long celebration of the upcoming Chinese New Year. KLWC will host an array of vibrant festivities, cultural performances, and engaging workshops, promising an unforgettable experience for attendees of all ages.

A diverse array of cultural workshops and performances have been scheduled every weekend from January 16th onwards, highlights include:

  • Fengshui Talks by Master Suvy and Master Lee Xu

  • CNY Fitness sessions led by renowned fitness expert Jordan Yeoh

  • Peranakan Peggy Bibik Cooking Demo

  • Oriental Instrumental Performances

  • Sugar Painting and Tanghulu Workshop

  • Mask Changing Performances

  • Dragon Beard Candy Making Workshop

  • CNY Paper Cutting Workshops and

  • Tarot Reading by Cris Angel.

The extravaganza will culminate in an enthralling Acrobatic Lion Dance and numerous other immersive experiences celebrating the festive spirit.

It’s an opportunity for people of all backgrounds to come together and experience the richness of this auspicious festival.”

The festivities will commence from 16th Jan 2024 and continue until 29th Feb 2024 at KL Wellness City Gallery, Bukit Jalil. Entrance is free, and all members of the community are encouraged to partake in the joyous celebrations.
