Kitty Lai denies being rude to veteran actor Jason Pai
13 Jan – TVB actress Kitty Lai recently defended herself over allegations that she was disrespecting veteran actor Jason Pai Piao, after clips of her ignoring the latter backstage at the TVB Anniversary Awards circulated on the internet.
As reported on Mingpao, the issue sparked after Kitty, who was interviewing Jason for "Scoop" following his Best Supporting Actor win, was seen rushing to take a group photo with her fellow colleagues and leaving Jason behind. Meanwhile, the veteran actor could be seen heading to the same direction as well, but was stopped by the staff halfway.
Following the backlash from netizens, Kitty responded in an interview with the media that she watched the clips many times to see if she had done anything impolite.
"I just ended the interview with Uncle Pai Piao, congratulated him and thanked him for the interview. It was completed by the time a staff member asked me to take a group photo with the others. I was rushing because I didn't want the others to have to wait for me. Uncle Pai Piao misunderstood it thinking that we were taking photos together, but actually there were other reporters who wanted to interview him, so the staff asked him to wait," she said.
The actress stated that she was surprised over reports that it was not her first time being impolite to seniors and couldn't help but cried as she spoke about it.
"I wasn't crying because I was scolded for my mistake. But I saw some negative comments about the issue. I couldn't help but cry when I am hurt," she said.
Kitty also took to social media to explain the incident, and added, "After this, I will learn from the experience and pay more attention in the future. I will do better... Hopefully one day I can become your favourite host."
