Jonathan Tucker came to the rescue following a home invasion in his Los Angeles neighborhood over the weekend.

The LAPD tells PEOPLE they received a call around 6:20 p.m. on June 2 regarding a report of a suspicious man in his mid-30s. Tucker’s rep confirmed to PEOPLE that the actor made the call after noticing a man talking to himself and banging on doors.

The Kingdom alum, 42, then saw his neighbor’s front door open and could no longer see the man, so he went to check on the family. When he arrived, he helped his neighbor and her kids to safety before police arrived.

According to TMZ, who first reported the incident, a mother was inside the house with her daughter and another child, unaware an intruder had entered the home.

The intruder fled the scene after the break-in but police scanned the area and found the man, taking him into custody without incident, according to the LAPD. TMZ reported the man was later placed on a 5150 mental health hold.
