King Charles Shared a Rare Health Update With a Hilarious Joke
The king still has his sense of humor.
It may have been a difficult years for the royals (to say the least), but King Charles is keeping a good attitude about it all. After battling cancer for nearly a full year, Charles is maintaining a "things could be worse" mentality, and the monarch certainly hasn't lost his sense of humor throughout the process.
During his most recent appearance, Charles visited the Walthamstow borough in London to celebrate community cohesion at a reception in Fellowship Square. While speaking local leaders, the king provided a health update with a funny twist. When Sikh faith representative Harvinder Rattan asked the king about his health amid his cancer journey, the reigning monarch responded with a hilarious and light-hearted—yet slightly morbid—joke. "I'm still alive," he teased, according to the Mirror.
Charles seems to be in good spirits after a palace source shared that his 2025 treatment plan is going in a "positive direction."
Sky News initially reported that the king's "treatment has been moving in a positive direction and as a managed condition the treatment cycle will continue into next year." People also confirmed the optimistic news.
Charles wasn't the only royal to struggle with their health in 2024. Kate Middleton was also diagnosed with cancer earlier in the year and underwent preventative chemotherapy. In September, the princess of Wales shared that she had finished her chemo, though, her journey was far from over. Over the last few months, Middleton has been slowly increasing her appearances at royal engagements. She even hosted her annual 'Together at Christmas' carol service on December 6. Charles's wife, Queen Camilla, has been facing an illness of her own: a chest infection that was eventually diagnosed as pneumonia. While the queen is on the mend, she missed several events due to her lingering cough, including the Royal Variety Performance on November 22.
