King Charles III Proclaimed in Edinburgh

Charles III was publicly proclaimed King of the United Kingdom in a ceremony in Edinburgh, Scotland, on September 11.

Crowd’s gathered along the city’s Royal Mile to hear the proclamation and await Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral cortege due to arrive in the Scottish capital on the same day.

King Charles III was officially proclaimed in a ceremony at St. James’s Palace in London, on Saturday, September 10.

Public proclamations were due to take place in Edinburgh, Cardiff, and Belfast on Sunday.

In the footage posted by Gianni Mastrangioli Salazar, the Lord Lyon King of Arms read the proclamation of the new King to the people of Scotland at outside Edinburgh’s St Giles’ Cathedral.

We, therefore, the lords spiritual and temporal of this realm, and members of the House of Commons, together with other members of her late Majesty's Privy Council, and representatives of the realms of territories, aldermen, citizens of London, and others, do now hereby, with one voice and consent of tongue and heart, publish and proclaim that the Prince Charles Philip Arthur George is now, by the death of our late sovereign, happy of memory, become our only lawful and rightful liege lord, Charles III. By the grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and of his other realms and territories, kings, head of the Commonwealth, defender of the faith, to whom we do acknowledge our faith and allegiance with humble affection.

Beseeching God, by whom kings and queens do reign, to bless His Majesty with long and happy years to reign over us. Given at Sir James's Palace on the 10th day of September and in the year of our Lord 2022.
