KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23 — Science and Technology Minister Khairy Jamaluddin today denied the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government has fallen as claimed by Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“Just finished the Cabinet meeting. Nothing has fallen or fall down,” Khairy tweeted minutes after Anwar’s surprise announcement shortly after noon.

The Cabinet has its weekly meeting in Putrajaya on Wednesdays.

Khairy included a snapshot of their meeting room at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Meanwhile, Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa posted at least four tweets in response to Anwar’s announcement.

While the first two appear to be making light of the situation, subsequent tweets saw the Federal Territory minister claiming that Anwar wants to seize power because his Royal Pardon is being challenged in court, as well as destabilise the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) that is representing BN and PN in Sabah state election.

“After failing to prevent efforts to challenge the legitimacy of the Royal PARDON in court, he is desperate to seize power as a last resort to sidestep an outcome that he wants to avoid the most,” a tweet read.

“Anwar’s statement is an attempt to break the solidarity of GRS and undermine the “incumbancy” of the central government. With that, he hopes to gain an advantage for WARISAN PLUS,” he tweeted with his signature capital-letter emphasis.

Former PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, meanwhile, just tweeted a brief sentence without mentioning Anwar.

However, the timing of the tweet and personal history between the two men caught the attention of Malaysians

“Incorrigible liar and political psychopath,” the international trade and industries minister wrote.

PAS deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man was quoted by Free Malaysia Today as confirming that all 18 of the Islamist Party’s MPs do not support Anwar.

Anwar today claimed majority support of MPs to form a government, saying he will hold an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong soon.

The PKR president said the majority of those supporting him are “Malay-Muslim MPs”, claiming that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s government has all but fallen today.

“Thank God I have solid and convincing support from MPs to be presented to the Agong,” he told reporters here.
