Kevin Durant feuds with 'drunk uncle' Shannon Sharpe after fake quote on 'Undisputed'
Shannon Sharpe appears to have fallen for a fake Kevin Durant quote, and the Brooklyn Nets star isn’t happy about it.
In fact, their dispute resulted in Sharpe blocking Durant on Twitter.
Sharpe falls for fake KD quote on ‘Undisputed’
Sharpe, who co-hosts “Undisputed” on FS1 with Skip Bayless and Jenny Taft, addressed the fake Durant quote on the show on Monday.
The quote, which looks like it simply from a Nets fan account, makes it seem like Durant is calling out LeBron James.
“People try to discredit my rings, but honestly I feel like they’re the most valuable of our era,” the quote reads. “People argue LeBron is the GOAT, but if I beat him in back-to-back Finals, then what does that make me?”
Sharpe then analyzed that quote on Monday’s show — and tweeted out a clip of him doing so.
It’s easy for Kevin Durant to say that now b/c he has the titles. The titles put his mind at ease.
If KD felt like that in the beginning, he would’ve never left OKC to link up with a team that went 73-9 & had some of the greatest shooters to ever live. pic.twitter.com/au82sjXHuW— shannon sharpe (@ShannonSharpe) April 12, 2021
“Kevin Durant thought by winning the titles, everybody was going to regard him as universally the best player in the NBA. Better than even LeBron James,” Sharpe said on FS1. “But very few people were willing to go there. And then he’s like, because he said it. ‘If LeBron James is the GOAT, I beat the GOAT twice, and hit the shot in his building. What does that make me?’”
Kevin Durant calls Sharpe out on Twitter
Durant, an avid Twitter user, then called Sharpe out on the social media website. He insists he never said that quote.
“Y’all drunk uncle out here lying again,” he wrote with a clip of the video. “When did I say this?”

Durant then called Sharpe out for tweeting about the fake quote on Tuesday, but not responding to him.
Ole Shannon refuses to respond to me. Yo Shannon why are u using your platform to push fake quotes about me???

Shannon went on tv responding to this quote like I actually said this. Gullible fans will believe it, or say “you was thinking this anyway” it’s comedy at this point https://t.co/heKXs8iOuE

Sharpe finally responded on Tuesday morning, saying that he’d talk to Durant about it but not in “the eye of social media.”
Durant, clearly, didn’t like that.
We can talk in front of everybody, it ain’t that serious Shannon, u go on tv in front of everybody pushing fake shit but now u wanna talk in private??? Why u lying on tv Shannon???

Not long after, Durant shared a screenshot of Sharpe’s profile. He had been blocked.

Sharpe tried to clarify the move later, and seemed to call Durant out for what he saw as childish behavior.
I’m not gangsta, but I’m not going bck and forth with KD and lose my job either. I’ve had disagreement with other athletes, ppl b4 , we handled it like adults and moved on... “ADULTS” https://t.co/BYJrCxSpfj

Though the feud seems to have ended there for good — with Durant blocked, Sharpe looks like he’s just moved on completely — the FS1 host appears like he isn’t backing down from his take, even having used a fake quote to make it.
