Kerry Washington joined millions of Americans who tuned in last night to endure the hot mess that was the first of three 2020 presidential debates between Democratic nominee Joe Biden and President Donald Trump.

Washington took to Twitter to share her reactions to the debate in real time, and responded to a fan who, like many, was unimpressed with Fox News anchor Chris Wallace's moderating style for the evening.

"Can we get Olivia Pope to come moderate?!" the fan asked, referencing Washington's former television character Olivia Pope from Scandal. Washington was quick to shut down the mere prospect of her on-screen alter ego even taking part in such a dysfunctional event.

"There's not enough wine in the whole wide world!!!!!!!!! #Debates2020," quipped the actress, noting her character's notorious love for a generous pour of vino.

Just as Washington was firmly assertive about Olivia Pope not being able to tolerate moderating a Biden–Trump debate debacle, Washington has remained steadily vocal about the importance of this year's election. The Little Fires Everywhere actress even hosted the third night of the virtual Democratic National Convention last month, addressing viewers with a moving speech about what the phrase a more perfect union personally means to her.

"The first 15 words of our constitution are, 'We the people, of the United States in order to form a more perfect union ... we say more perfect because our union is not without flaws. When our constitution was written, women couldn't vote. Black people were considered three-fifths of a human being, but therein lies the work," said Washington. "No one is perfect. Nothing is. But it is the striving towards justice, equality, and truth that distinguishes us. We fight for a more perfect union because we are fighting for the soul of this country and for the fight of our lives."
