Kenneth Ma unperturbed by demonstrators' presence at event

17 Jul – TVB actor Kenneth Ma assured that he was not affected at all by the sudden presence of nearly a hundred protesters at a mall event in Hung Hom that he recently attended.

As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who spoke to the media about the situation that prompted the organiser to cut it short, stated that he actually assumed that TVB would cancel the event due to the current hostile relationship between the company and some of the anti-extradition bill protesters.

"We cancelled the last event, so I thought this one would be cancelled as well. But the company wanted to continue with it and asked me to come. It is not [an actor's] decision whether to attend or not," he said.

Kenneth stated that the most important thing for him is the safety of everyone.

"The last event was cancelled based on security reasons. There are many children attending as well this time, so it was very important to make sure that they are safe," he said.

Asked if he would discuss with TVB about the current situation it is facing, the "Big White Duel" star said that it is not his place to say, and that the company has its own arrangements.

"Of course, I know that some people are frustrated with certain things, especially the current situation in Hong Kong. But to me, the most important thing is peace and security," he said.

Asked if he has his own dissatisfaction, the actor responded, "Oh, I'm fine. The protest didn't affect my work."
