Kelly Ripa Credits Andy Cohen for First Calling Her Husband Mark Consuelos “Daddy”
Live with Kelly and Ryan host Kelly Ripa is known for calling her husband and Riverdale star Mark Consuelos “daddy” on Instagram.
Kelly opened up about the backstory behind Mark’s now-iconic nickname, which originally came from Bravo star Andy Cohen.
Kelly Ripa riles up the masses when she calls her husband, Mark Consuelos, “daddy.”
But the Live with Kelly and Ryan co-host has actually been calling the Riverdale star by his now-iconic nickname for more than a decade — and it’s not for the reason you may think. While discussing her partnership with Persona — a personalized vitamin program — Kelly revealed the origin story of “daddy.”
“I’m all about a daddy. I like a daddy,” she tells Good Housekeeping. “You know how my husband got his nickname? It’s not from Riverdale. Andy Cohen gave my husband the nickname ‘daddy’ about 15 years ago.”
She continues: “Mark was out of town, he was shooting a movie somewhere, and Andy was visiting. Mark said, 'Andy, I need you to lock up the house and make sure you set the alarm because Kelly always forgets.' And he’s like, ‘Okay, daddy.’”
After walking around the house and being questioned by Kelly and Mark’s three children, the 51-year-old Watch What Happens Live star announced that he was the daddy for that particular night. “From that moment on, Mark became daddy, and everybody calls him daddy. He is a daddy to us all,” Kelly says.

So there you have it — now you know why she's obsessed with calling her hubby of 24 years "daddy." When Kelly's not going off on Instagram about “daddy” though, she's spending as much time with her man in person as she possibly can, sometimes at the gym.
“We do occasionally workout together, especially if we’re on vacation,” Kelly says. “We live in separate countries [while he's filming Riverdale], so we don’t really get to workout together that much at all but when we are together, we try to.”
In addition to working out every day, Kelly is also very passionate about her nutrition, which is why she's adamant on spreading the word about Persona. On Instagram, she showed off her enthusiasm with a fun post.

Right on cue, "daddy" was there with a joke in the comment section: "Can I be honest?!?! Thought that was an ultrasound."
