KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 — Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has said that a breaking-of-fast or “buka puasa” event that was being organised by the Kedah government, but to be held in Selangor, has been cancelled.

In a Facebook post, Sanusi said that the approval given to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to use Hall A of the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) for the event on April 9, had been rescinded.

“We just want to do a breaking-of-fast ceremony, the Kedah state government will also be paying the rent for the hall... Kedah produces 43 per cent of rice for this country.

“It’s okay, no fight no fuss no confusion, the programme will continue as planned. The latest location will be notified soon,” he said.

Sanusi did not directly blame the federal government for cancelling the event.

However, this comes after Sanusi yesterday accused the Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s Cabinet of barring him from attending federal government-organised events, including the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace exhibition (LIMA) in May.

The PAS politician is currently embroiled in a lawsuit filed by Anwar.

Anwar, who is from PKR, is suing Muhammad Sanusi for alleged defamation following the latter’s speech during the 15th general election campaign last November.

Muhammad Sanusi had accused the Pakatan Harapan chairman of immoral behaviour.
