Kayaker Winched to Safety After Injury in Scottish Highlands

The UK coastguard said a man was “winched to safety” after he was injured while kayaking in fast-flowing water in the Scottish Highlands on October 12.

A helicopter located the man using an onboard camera, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said, and a paramedic was lowered down with a stretcher.

The “remoteness of the area coupled with the added element of fast-running water, tall trees and large rocks meant this was quite a technical job for the crew, requiring precision and great skill,” the paramedic said.
