Kavita Sidhu slams tweet comparing her to Norlia Ghani
20 Jan –Kavita Sidhu recently slammed netizens for using the image of veteran actress Norlia Ghani to make a joking comparison to her.
The actress made her discomfort known after netizens shared images of her and Norlia on Twitter to praise her for looking good at her age. The post read, "Kavita Sidhu is 49. You guys are only 30 but looks like Norlia Ghani."
On 19 January, Kavita, who is a good friend of Norlia's actor son Rusdi Ramli, posted a word of wisdom on her Instagram account that read, "We won't be distracted by comparison if we are captivated by purpose."
She wrote, "Now more than ever, we need to be kind to each other. Feeling so bad when I read a now [viral] tweet about Puan Norlia Ghani [and me]. Please stop demeaning anyone. Respect her as a senior, a veteran film star, as someone's mother."
"Stop retweeting dishonouring another woman. How would you like it if netizens say hurtful things about your mother, your aunt, your friend? Please be mindful of what we say. Puan Norlia Ghani is my friend's mother. Thank you," she added.
Her sentiment was echoed by many of her followers, with one writing that she was disgusted by the tweet.
Norlia herself responded to the post, and expressed, "It's okay, [Kavita]. No [hard feelings]."
