Kathmandu Dog Lovers Care for Strays and Pets Abandoned During Pandemic

A group of Kathmandu residents has taken it upon themselves to care for stray dogs in Nepal, cooking warm food and bringing it to the animals on a daily basis.

Saman Shrestha and his friends have been doing this since lockdown restrictions were introduced in the country in March, capturing images of their work to highlight the plight of abandoned dogs in the process.

Shrestha filmed the group’s routine on November 4 and posted it on Facebook.

In the footage, the dogs can be seen scavenging for food in garbage heaps before swarming the locals bringing food.

“Our prime purpose is to help them by giving them warm and healthy food,” the group said in the post alongside the video.

“They have no voice to express their feeling. As humans it is our responsibility to help them and keep humanity alive,” the group added. Credit: Saman Shrestha via Storyful
