Kate Middleton has a busy day today as she returns to a fuller royal schedule after undergoing chemotherapy earlier this year.

This morning, the Princess of Wales joined her husband, Prince William, for a ceremonial welcome to kick-off to the two-day visit of Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani. Middleton wore an all-maroon look for the occasion, pairing a long Alexander McQueen coat dress with a matching Philip Treacy hat, a Chanel handbag, gloves, and boots. While her look seemed to be a subtle nod to the colors of the Qatar flag, her jewelry paid homage to the British royal family.

Middleton wore a pearl and diamond choker necklace that was once part of Queen Elizabeth II's collection in the '80s and '90s. Princess Diana also previously wore the same necklace during a state banquet in the Netherlands in 1982. Experts at UK retailer Steven Stone estimate the piece is worth $26,300 (£23,000).

Middleton also wore a pair of drop diamond and peal earrings that had also once belonged to her late grandmother-in-law.

This isn't the first time Middleton has worn these pieces—the princess previously wore both the necklace and the earrings at Prince Philip's funeral in 2021 and at Elizabeth's funeral the following year.

Middleton also paid homage to Diana by wearing her sapphire engagement ring. William gave his late mother's ring to Middleton when they first became engaged, however, Middleton has been seen without the famous piece on several recent occasions.

After the welcoming ceremony today, Middleton is scheduled to take part in a lunch alongside her husband, the Emir of the State of Qatar, and his wife, however, she is not expected to attend the State Banquet that will be held in their honor this evening.

Middleton has been slowly taking on a fuller royal schedule this winter after confirming that she had finished her chemotherapy treatment in September. "The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family," she said in a video clip released at the time. "Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown."

Middleton is also set to host her annual Christmas carol service later this week on December 6. "This Carol Service is a heartfelt celebration of every one of you, and a reminder that at Christmas, and throughout the year, we must all shine for each other," wrote Middleton in a message to the carolers. "Because in times of joy and sadness, we are all each other's light."
