Kate Middleton Wore an Uncharacteristically Flowy Coat for Her Christmas Concert

After teasing this year's holiday carol concert yesterday, Kate Middleton arrived at the third-annual event wearing head-to-toe white and eschewing her usual tailoring for a flowy, swishy coat. 2023 marks the third time that the Princess of Wales has hosted a holiday extravaganza at Westminster Abbey and this year's performers include Adam Lambert, Beverley Knight, Jacob Collier, Freya Ridings, and James Bay. Though the event is taking place on Friday U.K. time, the show won't be aired until Christmas Eve across the pond.

Kate's outfit didn't just include a laid-back coat, it seemed much more dressed-down than her usual royal wardrobe. Instead of a button-up blouse or her go-to bow-embellished necklines, she wore a simple crewneck under her jacket and a pair of wide-leg, high-waisted pants. Everything, including her pointy-toe pumps and her tiny top-handle bag, were in a creamy shade of winter white. Kate finished the look with bronzy skin and her usual voluminous, bouncy blowout.

People adds that the 2023 concert is connected to Kate’s Shaping Us campaign, which shines a spotlight on families and children during the early years of childhood. The palace shared that the event was organized to “thank all those who work to support babies, young children and families in our communities across the U.K. and a celebration of the golden opportunity that the birth of a new baby brings."

The concert and speeches — including one from Prince William — is scheduled to be broadcast as part of Royal Carols: Together At Christmas on ITV1 and ITV X on Christmas Eve. The show will also feature additional content, like a special introduction from Kate.
