Kate Hudson has described her mother Goldie Hawn's grandparenting style as being like "a tornado" blowing in and out of their house.

The Hollywood star mother and daughter live so close by that they are practically neighbours, and Glass Onion actor Hudson told Jonathan Ross that it meant Hawn was a big part of her grandchildren's lives.

Mum-of-three Hudson, 43, is a guest on this weekend's Jonathan Ross Show where she was asked whether Hawn, 77, was a hands-on grandmother.

She said: "She’s hands on, ish… she’s like more of a tornado. She comes in, tornados in like rainbows and flowers and happiness and then she’s gone. And you’re like, ‘Where did mum go?’ All the fun stuff. We’re very co-dependant [she lives nearby]."

Hudson added that as well as living close by to her mother, she actually lives in her old childhood home now where Hawn brought her up.

She said: "She’s (Hawn) seven blocks from me. I actually bought the house I grew up in. My mum sold the house, we moved into another house, 12 years later I bought back my mum’s house. Such happy memories."

The Almost Famous star grew up around many big Hollywood names, but told how she had been starstruck when she spotted Bob Dylan swimming at a Florida beach once.

Hudson said: "He’s a great swimmer. I was in Florida - it’s as random as it gets - I was sitting on a beach, I saw this man swimming way out in the ocean, and another man that looked like a bodyguard.

"He came out and he put this towel over him, he got closer and closer and I was like, ‘Oh my god, it’s Bob Dylan!’ He was swimming like a mile out!"

Other guests on Saturday's episode of the ITV chat show include Stormzy, Roisin Conaty and Joan Armatrading.

The Jonathan Ross Show airs on Saturday at 10.20pm on ITV.
