Kate Garraway has been told there is “little chance” of her husband Derek Draper recovering fully from his COVID battle if there isn't any progress in two years.

The Good Morning Britain star’s husband spent more than a year in hospital after getting the coronavirus and only recently returned home. He now needs round the clock care.

According to the Daily Star, Garraway has revealed that Draper’s neurologist told her that "time and waiting” were her friends because he "had never seen anything like this before so can’t personally chart the recovery".

Writing in her book The Power Of Hope, Garraway said she asked how long it would be before the doctor knew more.

She said: “After another long pause, he looked straight at me, then away. 'Well, Kate' – the first time he had used my name – 'I think it’s fair to say if he is still like this after two years we will know there is very little chance of him making any meaningful recovery’.”
