Kate Beckinsale reunites with daughter for birthday after two years apart

Kate Beckinsale celebrated her 48th birthday with her daughter Lily Sheen after revealing the pair hadn’t seen each other for two years.

The Underworld star recently shared that she had been apart from her only child - whose dad is Beckinsale's ex Michael Sheen - because of the coronavirus pandemic and work commitments.

But the actor was reunited with the 22-year-old as she celebrated her 48th birthday this week.

Beckinsale shared pictures on Instagram of the pair celebrating together, with one of her with her arm around her daughter and another showing Lily laughing in delight as her mum’s cake was brought out with sparklers blazing.

“The best birthday love love love love love,” wrote the star.

The party also included many of Beckinsale’s famous friends, including singer Rita Ora, director Taika Waititi and comedian Sarah Silverman, who previously dated Sheen.

Speaking on US show Live With Kelly And Ryan while she was promoting her new film Jolt, Beckinsale explained: "I haven't seen my daughter for two years because of everything. Also, I went to Canada working and she couldn't come see me.

"Two years of not seeing your child is the most preposterous thought."

She added: "Thank goodness for FaceTime and all that, but we're both panicking that we'll look really old to each other."

Beckinsale and Sheen were in a relationship from 1995 to 2003, after they met while starring in production of The Seagull together.

They welcomed Lily in 1999.
