Kate Beckinsale is sending her well-wishes to King Charles amid his cancer diagnosis.

While speaking at the King's Trust Gala in New York City on Thursday, May 2, Beckinsale, 50, revealed how "impressed" she is with "how open" the King, 75, has "been about having cancer." The British monarch is currently receiving treatment after announcing his diagnosis on Feb. 5. His daughter-in-law Kate Middleton also revealed her own cancer on March 22.

Referencing her mother Judy Loe's diagnosis and her stepdad Roy Battersby's death on Jan. 10, 2024, Beckinsale told reporters, "My mum's got cancer and my stepdad just died of cancer, and I think having a monarchy that is... you know, people kinda go 'Why've you got it? What's it for?' And all of that. Then there's this, and actually being really open about quite personal things that I think is really important."

"I'm really impressed that he's doing that," the Underworld actress added.

Beckinsale said that her mom and King Charles "happened to be at the same cancer hospital" recently while she was getting her checks. "I hope everyone gets better. I'm f--king sick of cancer, I really am," Beckinsale added.

The Gala appearance marked the Van Helsing star's return to the red carpet following an extended hospital stay for an undisclosed health issue.

While speaking to PEOPLE at the event, Beckinsale admitted, "It's been a rough year. Because my parents have both been unwell and my cat ... it's been a bunch of things. So that's why it's nice to come and see friends and have a little perspective. Everyone's had a bit of a rough year, I think."
