Kanye West has shared a preview of items from an unreleased merchandise line to accompany his 2020 presidential campaign.

The rapper and producer has claimed that he plans to run for president as an independent candidate in the 2020 election, and has been placed on the ballot in select US states.

On Wednesday (12 August), the “Jesus Walks” star shared three pictures of merchandise, seemingly in support of his presidential run.

The apparent campaign slogan, “Kanye 2020 Vision” is shown to be printed on the front and back of two T-shirts and on the front of a baseball cap. It is not clear when or if the merchandise will be made available to purchase.

West’s posts arrive amid mounting doubt that the rapper and producer will be eligible to run in many states.

In his home state of Illinois, West faces removal from the presidential ballot due to allegations that his team submitted an invalid number of signatures in order to qualify.

The issue is currently being assessed by a hearing examiner, who will then – in about 10 days’ time - make a recommendation on whether West should be allowed on the ballot.

The Illinois State Board of Elections will then vote on the recommendation, likely during its 21 August meeting.

Other states are also scrutinising West’s credentials, with attorney Michael Maistelman collecting affidavits for the Wisconsin Democratic Party which allege issues with signatures there.

West is on the ballot in Colorado, however, which has a lower bar for eligibility than many other states.
