Kanye West to Buy Parler Social Media Platform

Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, has entered into an agreement to purchase Parler, “the world’s pioneering uncancelable free speech platform,” per a release from parent company Parlement Technologies acquired by the TheWrap.

“In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves,” the embattled rapper and fashion mogul said in a statement.

Ye’s decision to purchase the “free speech”-driven social media platform comes just days after Twitter and Instagram locked his personal accounts following a number of antisemitic posts and a damning interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson.

Per the initial terms of the Parler agreement, Ye and the platform intend to enter into a definitive purchase agreement and will close in Q4 of 2022, before the end of the year. Under the agreement, Parlement would provide ongoing technical support and continue using its private cloud services via its private cloud and data center infrastructure.

“This deal will change the world, and change the way the world thinks about free speech,” Parlement Technologies CEO George Farmer said in a statement. “Ye is making a groundbreaking move into the free speech media space and will never have to fear being removed from social media again. Once again, Ye proves that he is one step ahead of the legacy media narrative. Parlement will be honored to help him achieve his goals.”

Additionally under Parlement Technologies’ umbrella are its Parler-related leading technology systems, including Web3 and secure cloud services, known as DeepRedSky and Dynascale. Per Monday’s release, the company bills itself as “a guiding force in the fight against Big Tech, Big Government, censorship, and cancel culture.”

In an interview Monday morning with Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria,” Farmer further explained why Parlement Technologies is selling its Parler asset to Ye.

“Free speech is something that we all must strive towards,” Farmer said. “[Ye is] very excited about this. The deal came together in short order. And we are very excited about the potential that he can bring to the platform in terms of the growth profile of the marketing operation of this platform, which he’s going to bring to it.”
