Kamala Harris Tells Voter That Donald Trump “Loves His Family” When Asked At Univision Town Hall To Name Virtues Of Her Rival
UPDATED: Kamala Harris appeared at a Univision town hall in Las Vegas today, her latest stop in a media blitz as she and rival Donald Trump battle to win over the Latino vote.
Harris answered questions on healthcare, immigration and reproductive rights in the same way she has done elsewhere, according to a pool report. But she also took a rather unexpected question from a voter at the end of the event.

The vice president was asked to name three virtues about Trump.
Harris said that she thought that Trump “loves his family,” but admitted that she did not “really know him.” Their meeting at the ABC News presidential debate on Sept. 10 was the first time they met in person.
The question called to mind Trump and Hillary Clinton’s town hall debate in 2016, when a voter asked each to name one thing they respected about the other. “I respect his children. His children are incredibly able and devoted, and I think that says a lot about Donald,” Clinton answered. Trump said of his rival, “She doesn’t quit. She doesn’t give up. I respect that….She’s a fighter.”
The town hall will air on Univision at 10 p.m. ET tonight. Trump is scheduled to do a town hall with the broadcaster next week, on Oct. 16, in Miami. Enrique Acevedo moderated the event.
Recent polls show that Harris is winning the Latino vote, but Trump has made gains, particularly among men.
At the town hall, one voter said he was upset with the way that President Joe Biden had been treated, as there was pressure on him to step aside after a poor debate performance in June. Harris said that history would show that Biden’s decision to stand down “was probably one of the most courageous that a president could make.”
One voter asked Harris about her mother, who was undocumented but was unable to gain her legal status before her recent death. Harris talked about the “broken immigration system,” and then referred to the bipartisan immigration bill that was “blocked by former President Trump.” Republicans backed away from the legislation earlier this year after Trump announced his opposition.

Harris also condemned the wave of misinformation tied to hurricanes Helene and Milton, saying that people are “playing political games” by spreading falsehoods about the government response.
