'Teen Mom' alum Kailyn Lowry's twins Verse and Valley, born in late 2023, joined her five boys: Isaac, Lincoln, Lux, Creed and Rio
Kailyn Lowry's family just got bigger!
The Teen Mom alum and her fiancé, Elijah Scott, welcomed fraternal twins Verse and Valley in late 2023 before getting engaged nearly a year later in August 2024. They announced the big news on Lowry's podcast, Barely Famous. It was also revealed that Lowry had her tubes tied following her C-section.
"They cut my tubes out," she shared. "I don't regret it. But also if I did not get my tubes taken out and got pregnant again, it wouldn't have upset me."
The former reality star has put her motherhood journey on display since 2010 when she appeared on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant as a senior in high school. At the time, she was expecting her first child, son Isaac, with her then-boyfriend Jo Rivera.
The following year, Lowry joined the cast of Teen Mom 2, which documented her turbulent love life and her growing family. In 2012, she married Javi Marroquin, and a year later, the two welcomed their son, Lincoln. The couple split in 2016, and Lowry went on to have two more children, sons Lux and Creed, with ex Chris Lopez.
In 2022, Lowry announced her decision to leave the Teen Mom franchise after 11 years. Around this time, she quietly welcomed her son Rio. She confirmed the news of baby No. 5, her first child with Scott, to PEOPLE in 2023.
While Lowry is now a mom of seven, she said she doesn't consider herself a parenting expert.
“Every child is so different and every experience is so different,” the reality star told PEOPLE. “I definitely would not consider myself an expert, but I’ve been around the block a couple of times with kids.”
Here’s everything to know about Kailyn Lowry’s kids: Isaac, Lincoln, Lux, Creed, Rio, Verse and Valley.
Isaac Elliot, 14
Lowry was 17 when she welcomed her first child, Isaac Elliot Rivera, on Jan. 18, 2010, with her high school boyfriend, Jo Rivera. Lowry and Rivera split in 2011, and their subsequent custody battle was chronicled on Teen Mom 2.
In the years since, Lowry and Rivera have become each other's "greatest supporters" and amicable co-parents. In 2018, Lowry and Isaac attended Rivera’s wedding to Vee Torres, and the Teen Mom star later tweeted that she "couldn’t ask for a better stepmom for Isaac."
Aside from appearing on Teen Mom 2 with his mother, Isaac has also joined Lowry for an interview on her podcast, Barely Famous, in 2022.
“Right now, I love playing piano,” he said of his interests. “I want to learn to play guitar like we talked about.” He went on to say that although he doesn’t love to practice, he enjoys playing basketball.
Isaac might also follow in Lowry’s publishing footsteps. “I want to be a writer,” he shared, adding that he’s hoping to write a memoir of his own one day, just like his mom.
Lowry celebrated Isaac's 13th birthday in 2023 with a heartfelt Instagram post, calling him “a son, brother, friend.”
“We have literally grown up together, but in some ways he’s even more grown than I am,” she wrote. “Thoughtful, brilliant, funny and at times a smartass 😆 are a few words I would use to describe Isaac.”
She continued, “He is curious and open-minded, he can form his own thoughts and opinions. Isaac also accepts people for who they are and never how they’re ‘supposed’ to be. More people should be like him.”
Lincoln Marshall, 11
Lowry's second child, son Lincoln Marshall Marroquin, was born on Nov. 16, 2013. His birth came over a year after Lowry quietly wed ex-husband Javi Marroquin. While Lowry and Marroquin divorced in 2017, they've made an effort to prioritize parenting duties, agreeing to share 50/50 custody of their son.
In a 2022 episode of Barely Famous, Lowry described Lincoln as “sporty” and “athletic.”
“Lincoln's very much into sports,” she told the audience, adding that he’s especially into football and basketball.
During another episode, Lowry opened up about her son's soft side, calling him a "nurturer." She explained, “I don't even know how to describe it. He is the best big brother in the entire world.”
Though Lincoln was “a spicy toddler,” according to Lowry, he has since turned into a sweet, family-oriented brother, especially to little brother Rio. “My favorite thing is Lincoln is like a little dad to him, which is so cute and he just loves,” the Teen Mom 2 star said.
When Lincoln turned 9 in 2022, Lowry celebrated the milestone with a sweet Instagram post. “To know Lincoln is to love him,” she wrote. “Dedicated, smart, handsome and the best brother out there. I absolutely love being your mom and watching you grow. I cannot wait to watch you shine in this new chapter. I love you! Happy birthday baby boy!”
Lux Russell, 7
On Aug. 5, 2017, Lowry welcomed her third child, son Lux Russell Lowry, with ex Chris Lopez. The pair broke up shortly after Lux was born and had an on-again, off-again relationship until 2020.
“It’s just kind of hard,” Lowry told PEOPLE of co-parenting with her children's three fathers in September 2017. “The dynamics are different between me and Chris, than with me and Javi [Marroquin] or me and Jo [Rivera]. It’s a different kind of co-parenting.”
Since then, Lowry has primarily raised Lux as a single mom. In 2018, she came to her son's defense and responded to mom-shamers on social media who made comments about the length of baby Lux's hair. “I’ll cut it when he tells me he wants to cut it. But you can mind your business lil momma,” she wrote.
She similarly defended her parenting in 2020 after fans on social media criticized her for allowing Lux to continue wearing diapers after his 2nd birthday. “Lux turned 2 in August,” she wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). “I’m not going to rush him into something based on someone else’s standards. What works for us is waiting until he’s ready. Not when IM ready.”
In 2023, Lux celebrated his 6th birthday with a WWE-themed party. His mom also gave him a birthday shout-out on Instagram, writing, “Lux came into this world at lightning speed & has kept us on our toes every single day since. I love this little leo baby so much!"
Creed Romello, 4
Lowry welcomed her fourth child — and second with Lopez — Creed Romello Lowry-Lopez on July 30, 2020. Creed was born home weighing 8 lbs., 15 oz.
A few weeks after his arrival, Lowry revealed her son’s name on Instagram, explaining that the moniker meant "guiding principle."
Lowry's pregnancy with Creed was documented on Teen Mom 2, where she revealed that she considered terminating the pregnancy until she saw the ultrasound.
“I had a really, really, really hard time with my pregnancy,” she told PEOPLE in 2020, adding that she was “nervous” about the public reaction to her confession about considering abortion. “I hope that people understand the thought process and the pain that I was going through.”
Ultimately, she chose to move forward as a single mom of four. “I'm happy he's here,” she said of her newborn. “I love him so much.”
Aside from openly discussing her difficult pregnancy with him, Lowry has shared a few sweet anecdotes about Creed with fans.
“Creed is, he’s a different breed,” she shared in a 2022 episode of her Barely Famous podcast. “That kid’s going places. I don't know if he's going to be president. I don't know what he's going to do, but he's going to do something.”
In 2023, she celebrated his birthday with a joint WWE-themed birthday party for him and Lux. “CREED. Romello. Mello. Romey. Rome. Biggie. Bigs,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a carousel of photos from the event. “No words could accurately describe my love for this little firecracker so I’ll save the sap for real life! ❤️ this is 3!”
Rio, 1
Lowry quietly welcomed her fifth son, Rio, with Elijah Scott in November 2022. However, she kept the news of Rio's birth private for nearly a year, confirming his arrival during an episode of her podcast in October 2023.
“I had baby Rio last year, as has been circulating through the media,” she said. “And I just wasn't ready to talk about it. I didn't want to announce it. I kind of wanted to have some private time in my life.”
Following the announcement, Lowry spoke more about her decision to keep her pregnancy with Rio private with PEOPLE, explaining, "I wanted to be able to tell my own story on my own terms and kind of share what information I wanted to share instead of being within a contractual obligation or storyline."
The reality star also recounted Rio's birth on her podcast, saying, “He had a little bit of a traumatic entrance into this world where he went to the NICU." She also called Rio "the best baby ever."
"Honestly, being a mom to four was harder than five, but I think that was because my number four is so spicy,” she admitted. “Number five is fantastic. He's the world's greatest baby like, if all my babies were like this, I'd have 10 more.”
Verse and Valley, 1
In late 2023, Lowry and Scott welcomed twins — one boy and one girl. They were delivered via C-section five weeks early and spent time in the NICU.
Lowry announced that she and Scott were expecting in October 2023. The reality star shared the special news on her podcast, Barely Famous, and explained that the babies were conceived just before she went on a trip to Thailand in March.
"When I got there, I was eating everything. My face was flushed, but I didn't think anything of it because I was like, there's no way. There's no way I am [pregnant]," Lowry said.
In February 2024, Lowry revealed the names of her twins in a video she shared on TikTok: Verse and Valley.
"Complete. Whole. Everybody's here," she wrote in the caption.
When a fan asked Lowry how to pronounce her twins' names, she shared another TikTok video explaining the stories behind their monikers.
"Verse came from Iverson, which is the name that Lincoln recommended. Obviously, it would be on his list because he's a huge basketball fan," she said.
Valley's name comes from Lehigh Valley, the area of Pennsylvania where Lowry grew up. "[It] really shaped a big part of who I am and it's a huge part of why I am where I am today, and so I really liked Valley. I feel like it's not super different. It's still a name you can grow with. It's not too weird," she said.
Lowry celebrated the twins' first birthday in October 2024, sharing a video of their ghost-themed party on Instagram, writing, "I can not believe the twins are already one! They have brought so much joy into our family! Happy Birthday Verse & Valley, we love you! 🧁🎈👻."
