Juventus reportedly see Arsenal centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes as an ‘heir’ to their former defender Giorgio Chiellini.

Arsenal paid a fee in the region of £27m to sign Gabriel from Ligue 1 side Lille ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

The defender has featured 70 times for the Gunners over the past two seasons. He has been a standout player for them during this spell.

Juventus have been heavily linked with him in recent months. They are set to lose Matthijs de Ligt to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Their former captain Chiellini departed the club earlier this summer. The 37-year-old has joined MLS side Los Angeles FC on a free transfer.

Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb are reporting that Juventus see Gabriel as an ideal replacement for Chiellini.

His contract expires in 2025 and it is noted that signing him ‘will not be an easy task’.

The report adds that Juventus are planning to offer Arsenal €30m plus ‘two redundancies’ for Gabriel’s services.

The two player’s being offered to the Gunners are Adrien Rabiot and Arthur Melo. Rabiot is out of contract next year and ‘wants a change of scenery’.

Arthur meanwhile is ‘highly esteemed’ by Mikel Arteta. The Serie A outfit hope to loan him to Arsenal as part of the agreement.

A separate report from The Independent has stated that ‘Arsenal would want talks on a deal to start at around £50m’. They add that a ‘player exchange could be an option’.

Elsewhere, according to the player’s agent, Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has “reached an agreement” to sign for La Liga side Valencia this summer.

Torreira signed for Arsenal from Sampdoria. They paid £26m for him after he shone for Uraguay at the 2018 World Cup.

The centre-midfielder was relied upon by the Gunners to start with but he fell down the pecking order after Mikel Arteta replaced Unai Emery towards the end of 2019.

The 26-year-old has had spells on loan at Atletico Madrid and Fiorentina in recent seasons.

He looked set to join the Italian side permanently this summer, but this transfer has fallen through. The Italian side refused to meet Arsenal’s valuation.

Torreira has already made it clear that he intends to leave Arsenal this summer. His current contract expires in 2023.

His agent – Pablo Bentancur – has now revealed that they have an agreement in place to join Valencia:

“We have reached an agreement with Valencia, Gattuso wants him,” Pablo Bentancur said (as quoted by Fabrizio Romano).

“We are gonna discuss with Arsenal – Arteta wants to see him in the pre-season.

“He had great numbers with AFC but we’ve [got a] pre-agreement with Valencia”.
